Susan Farmer & Lila Sapinsley Co-host Avedisian Event
Two of the best known female political leaders in the state of Rhode Island teamed up to co-host an event for Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian.
Rhode Island Secretary of State Susan Farmer and Senate Minority Leader Lila Sapinsley were the featured guests at a fundraising event held on September 23, 2008 at the new NYLO Hotel at the historic Pontiac Mills in Warwick.
Farmer - who was the first woman elected to state wide office in Rhode Island - served as Secretary of State from 1983 to 1987. Sapinsley - the first woman to lead a chamber in the Rhode Island Legislature - served from 1973 to 1984.
'I am gratfeul to have these two role models for young Rhode Islanders support my efforts for a sixth term,' Avedisian said.
